The Night Of è una miniserie televisiva statunitense in otto puntate trasmessa su HBO dal 10 luglio 2016 e basata sulla serie britannica Criminal Justice della BBC.
Il 19 settembre 2012 è stato annunciato che HBO aveva commissionato un episodio pilota basato sulla serie televisiva britannica Criminal Justice. Il progetto iniziale prevedeva James Gandolfini come attore protagonista, Richard Price come sceneggiatore e Steven Zaillian come regista.
Il 19 febbraio 2013 HBO ha abbandonato il progetto, per poi riprenderlo in considerazione il 13 maggio, come miniserie da sette puntate.
Dopo la morte di Gandolfini del 19 giugno 2013, è stato annunciato che la miniserie si sarebbe realizzata in suo onore, e che Robert De Niro avrebbe preso il posto di Gandolfini. Tuttavia, per via di altri impegni recitativi, il 21 aprile 2014 De Niro è stato rimpiazzato da John Turturro.
L'11 marzo 2016 è stato annunciato che la miniserie, costituita da otto puntate, avrebbe debuttato nell'estate del 2016 con il titolo The Night Of. Gandolfini è stato accreditato postumo come produttore esecutivo.

Naz is a straight-laced Paskistani-American student who is off to a must-attend party on a Friday night. His only available transportation being his father's taxi cab, Naz sets off into Manhattan. But his party-going plans are quickly forgotten when a mysterious young woman jumps aboard in need of a ride. Charmed by her intense intrigue and good looks, Naz gets swept up by her pressures.
